The update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has definitely made the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 faster. The tablet reacts quicker to touch input, and benchmark results indicate that the new software has indeed accelerated Samsung's tablet. It took a while, but Samsung finally rolled out the long-awaited Android 4.0 update for its 'old' Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500.
The tablet from last year was supposed to get the upgrade from Android 3.2 to Android 4.0 sooner, but it took a bit longer than expected. Hardware.Info compared the performance of the two Android versions. Visual changes have been introduced to the start screen, the app overview, the menu bar and the settings menu. ICS is also supposed to improve the performance of the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The tablet is built around the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, and while it's no longer state-of-the-art, the update has definitely made the Tab 10.1 faster. The mobile device reacts quicker to touch input, and benchmark results indicate that the new software has indeed accelerated Samsung's tablet. The Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 can be downloaded over the air (OTA) or via Kies. Samsung has yet to announce whether it will release a Jelly Bean update for the tablet.
